Research Abstract

メタボリックシンドローム(MetS)は軽症でも動脈硬化危険因子が集積することにより循環器疾患発症を増し、その背景は腹部肥満とする病態である。しかしながらMetSが日本人の死因の上位を占める心血管疾患の発症にどのように関与するは不明である。本研究では地域一般住民を対象とした疫学研究からこの点を検討し、日本人でもMetSは循環器疾患の発症リスクを約2倍程度上昇させ、糖尿病や高血圧の強力な発症要因となっていることを明らかにした。
