Research Abstract

近年、固形癌においても癌幹細胞が存在する可能性が指摘されているが、ヒト胃癌では未だ同定されていない。
そこで、本研究では、胃癌において癌幹細胞を同定しその意義を明らかにする事を目的とした。まず始めに、幹細胞としての特質の一つであるソニックヘッジホグ(SHH)経路に関連する分子の発現と臨床病理学的因子との関連について検討した。
その結果、SHHは分化型の胃癌で強い発現を認めた。
また分化型の胃癌においては、SHHと結合するpatched-1 (PTCH1)発現の強い症例では生存期間の短縮が認められた。
従って、PTCH1は胃癌において重要な予後予測因子となる事が示唆された。
