Research Abstract

先天性心疾患の外科治療において、肺動脈弁の代用弁を必要とする症例が多い。しかし、現状では、満足のいく代用弁は入手困難である。そこで、生体適合性が優れているExpanded polytetrafluoroethylene(EPTFE)が素材として最適であると考え、代用弁を手作りしてきた。しかし、長期的な弁機能には問題を有していた。そこで、生体の弁本来がもつ血管壁のふくらみ(bulging sinus)の中の渦上の血流が弁の動きに重要な役割を有することに着目し、EPTFEにbulging sinusを形成しその有用性を実証した。
