本研究ではIL-18 knock outマウス(KO)を用いてlipopolysacc haride(LPS)投与によりエンドトキシン血症モデルを作成し、空腸、回腸のapoptosisとTIRファミリーであるIL-18およびTLR4の関連を調べた。空腸ではエンドトキシンによりIL-18濃度が減少してTLR4の発現とapoptosisが増加し、IL-18濃度はTLR4の発現に関与している可能性が示唆された。しかし、回腸ではIL-18とTLR4の関係は明らかではなかった。本研究によりIL-18はエンドトキシン血症下のTIRレセプターファミリーの発現に関与すること、腸管の部位により働きが異なる可能性が示唆され、現在さらに解析を進めている。
