Research Abstract |
To form functional neural circuits like brain, each neuron must possess extremely polarized cellular structures, dendrites and an axon. In this study, we utilized various Drosophila molecular genetic methods to elucidate the molecular mechanisms for neuronal polarization in vivo. Molecular genetic analyses of several mutants defective in neuronal polarization and circuit formation revealed the importance of sugar modification on cell surface proteins.
