Research Abstract

The objective of this study is to clarify how the Japanese Postpositional Mora (sokuon. hatsuon, and chooon) have been treated in the Scores of Buddhist Chants. A sokuon does not often correspond one fushihakase, while a hatsuon or a chooon often corresponds one fushihakase independently. Some evidences suggested that this trend depends on not musical factors but linguistic factors.
