Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic policy and the ideology of Colonial bureaucrats in Taiwan, based on the fact of three economic councils hosted by Taiwan government from the 1930's to the 1940's. Following facts were revealed as a result of this analysis. 1) Taiwan government's economic policies were proposed in different standards than that of Japanese central government. 2) Those proposals, shown in economic councils, were not supported by central government and entrepreneurs in mainland Japan, and they caused conflicts between colonial Taiwan government and Japanese central government. 3) Bureaucrats of Taiwan government showed strong persistence in economic relationship between Southeast Asia in the conduct of colonial Taiwan, and sought different basis of existence than dependent position against central government of Japan.
