| Research Abstract |
マイワシは、自然変動が大きいことから、漁業規制の効果を問題視する声が多かった。申請者は、近年のマイワシ資源の減少において、強い漁獲圧が大きな役割を果たしたことを明らかにした。現在の漁獲圧では、海洋環境が好転しても資源は回復しないも示した。一連の研究により、マイワシの持続的利用の重要性が社会的に認知された結果、これまで生物学的許容漁獲量(ABC)を大きく超過していたマイワシの漁獲枠は、今年度からABCまで削減されることとなった。
