| Research Abstract |
プリオン病はヒトを含む各動物種に見られる難治性の中枢神経変性疾患である。現在、ヒトやウシにおける感染、ウシからヒトへの感染が大きな社会問題となっており、世界中でプリオンワクチンおよび治療法の開発が行われているが、実用化までには至っていない。なぜなら正常型プリオン蛋白(PrP)は生体内の宿主蛋白であり、免疫寛容という大きな問題点があるためである。本研究では、実用化に向けたプリオンワクチンの開発を検討し、有用性のある免疫抗原の作製に成功した。
