| Research Abstract |
ヘパラン硫酸プロテオグリカンであるパールカンは、長管骨成長板における軟骨形成において必須の機能を担うことが、その欠損マウスとヒト遺伝性疾患の解析より明らかとなっていた。しかしパールカンの脊椎と椎間板発生における機能は不明であったため、今回この機能解析を行った。
パールカンが欠損したマウスでは、脊椎が曲がる側彎変形を呈した。組織学的検討より、椎体成長板肥大軟骨細胞層の発達遅延と層状構造消失を認めた。さらに、椎間板形成も遅延していた。以上より、パールカンは、椎体と椎間板の発達にも重要な機能を担うと考えた。
