Research Abstract

Streptococcus mutans はう蝕の主要な原因細菌であるとともに感染性心内膜炎の起炎菌としても知られている.本研究では,国内外のう蝕および感染性心内膜炎患者血液より分離された S. mutans 菌株を用いて,分子疫学的解析法である Multi Locus SequenceTyping (MLST) 法を確立し,病原性や伝播に関する系統的分析を行った.その結果,病原性に関与する血清型や遺伝子を保有する菌株が,系統樹上のある特定の領域に集中することが明らかとなった.
