| Research Abstract |
本研究は、16世紀半ば以降のロシアの東方拡大において、最初にロシアに吸収されたタタール・ムスリムに注目したものである。急速に領土を拡大した帝政ロシアで、タタール人は、ロシア正教に改宗した者はもちろん、ムスリムにとどまった者も、ロシア政府に少なからぬ影響を与えた。本研究においては、ロシア側が異教徒であるタタール人をどのように扱ったのかというロシア側の視点とともに、18 世紀には主に商人やムスリム聖職者となってロシア政府に影響をおよぼしていたタタール人側の視点も取り入れることにより、いわば「ロシアのアジア性」の一面を明らかにし、さらに、多民族帝国としてのロシアの成り立ちを解明した。
