Research Abstract	20世紀転換期の通学制聾学校では、聾者が設立した学校が、従来の聾教育の内部的関心に留まって事業を展開したのに対し、19世紀末に聴者によって設立または運営された学校は、聴者マジョリティの支持を集める様々な手段を採っていった。つまり、聾者は聴者の幅広い支持を得るための十分な方略をもたなかったことが、19世紀末からの聾教育における聴者による教育主導の一因であったといえる。
