Research Abstract

脳内には神経細胞以外に補助細胞であるグリア細胞が存在し、その活性変化は神経変性疾患発症メカニズムに関与することが指摘されている。グリア細胞の1つであるアストロサイトにおいて、細胞活性化刺激を行うことにより、神経変性疾患の凝集体形成に関わる酵素であるトランスグルタミナーゼの発現上昇が認められた。したがって、グリア細胞の活性化にトランスグルタミナーゼが関与し、活性化したグリア細胞において発現増加したトランスグルタミナーゼが神経変性疾患の原因となる可能性が示唆された。
