Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research examined the cultural, mental, social, and physical correlates of vagus nerve activity- a disease risk factor- in order to examine the connection between health and modern lifestyles (e.g. single-person households) in developed countries. In the 2020 year, five studies gathered empirical data from human participants (N= 1,073 in total). Overall, these studies empirically identified the demographic profiles and mental and physical health correlates of individuals living alone compared to those in other types of households and (2) examined the differences in psychological responses to social experiences as a function of household type, residential mobility, and individualism in Japan. The data yielded from these studies are currently being prepared for publication.
