Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、スピンの流れを二次元面内で操作する二次元スピン人工磁気格子の創生と、この媒体を用いたスピン波集積回路を得ようとするものである。このために、二次元周期配列した重金属薄膜/磁性ガーネット媒体用いて小型スピン波導波路を開発すると同時に、スピン波の演算回路の開発を通じて学術的「問い」の探求・解明を行うと共に、その物理的・工学的知見を広く産業界へ展開することで、我が国の産業競争力強化に資することを目的とするものである。
本年度は、二次元マグノニック結晶中のスピン波の伝搬特性を、三次元モデルを使って計算した。周期境界条件等の近似を用いない実際に作製予定の試料に近い計算を行った。この結果、特定のスピン波を遮断するマグノニック・バンドギャップを発現する素子が作製できることが示唆された。

Reason

当初予定通り、三次元モデルを用いたスピン波伝搬特性をシミュレーションし、作製可能なマグノニック結晶により、スピン波を遮断するマグノニック・バンドギャップが、計算で確認できた。このとき、磁性ガーネットには、膜面に対して垂直に磁界が印加されており、前進体積スピン波が伝搬することを想定した。昨年度に修理が完了した成膜装置等を用いて、二次元マグノニック結晶の作製のために必要な、成膜装置の使用条件の最適化を開始した。さらに、二次元マグノニック結晶を構成する金属の周期構造を作製するために必要な、アライナ装置の選定および要求条件等の洗い出しを進めた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

次年度では、今年度に計算によって明らかにした作製可能な二次元マグノニック結晶の作製を行うことを予定している。マグノニック・バンドギャップが発現することを期待しており、得られた実験結果は、本年度計算した結果と比較することを予定している。二次元マグノニック結晶を作製に必要な装置の設定の微調整等を行うことで、計算に近い試料の作製が可能になると考えている。
