Outline of Annual Research Achievements

表面プラズモン共鳴を利用した機能材料の開発において、汎用元素を利用した安価なプラズモン材料の新規創成およびそのプラズモン材料を基盤とした高性能触媒の開発を実施する。物質合成や材料組織制御による実験手法と第一原理計算による理論計算手法を組み合わせ、材料中の電子密度・分布とプラズモン共鳴発現の相関を理解することで、光利用効率が高く、幅広い光の波長域を選択利用できる新しいプラズモン材料を創成する。さらにプラズモン共鳴による触媒活性発現の機構を理解しながら、プラズモン材料と触媒活性点とをハイブリッド化することで表面プラズモン共鳴を利用する高性能触媒の開発を行う。得られる触媒に対し、オペランド観察実験と理論化学計算の支援により反応機構・プラズモン作用機構の解明を行うとともに、光エネルギーを新たな反応場(増強電場・強光場・電子移動)構築に利用する革新的触媒反応プロセスの創出を目指す。
具体的には、マイクロ波加熱やアルコールを還元剤に利用するソルボサーマル合成法やマグネトロンスパッタ法を駆使して、組成(酸素欠陥・異種原子ドープ)・形状(結晶異方性)・サイズ(結晶径)を精密制御し、自由電子密度・分布を制御したHxMoO3-yナノシート・ナノ粒子や薄膜材の調製を行う。組成・形状・サイズ制御によりプラズモン振動状態を変化させることで、プラズモン材料の吸収する光の波長の自在制御が可能になる。また、第一原理計算を利用することで、材料の電子構造を計算し、バンド構造、部分状態密度、電荷分布の情報が得られ、革新的なプラズモン触媒の開発に有用な指針を提供できる。これらの理論データの分析に基づきスクリーニングすることで触媒反応に最適な汎用元素プラズモン材料を設計する。各種分光分析を用いた材料構造解析と理論計算の結果を基にプラズモン作用発現機構を理解しつつ、効率的な材料開発を行う。

Reason

実験手法と理論計算手法を融合しながら、以下の点を重視し研究を進めた。
①汎用元素を利用した安価なプラズモン材料の開発:本研究では安価な卑金属プラズモン材料である還元型モリブデン酸化物に主なターゲットを絞り、研究を行った。卑金属プラズモン材料を開発するキーポイントは、材料のバルク中の電子密度をいかにして金属と同レベルまで高めるかである。これまでに申請者が開発している還元型モリブデン酸化物(HxMoO3-y)を基軸材料として、新たな材料組成やサイズ・構造の制御を試み、光吸収・利用効率が大きく、光吸収波長域を自在制御したプラズモン材料の開発に成功した。
②プラズモン材料と触媒活性種との融合:高性能触媒の開発には、プラズモン材料と触媒活性点との接合が重要ポイントとなる。上記①で合成したプラズモン材料と触媒活性種、特にプラズモン効果への感度が高いと予想されるPdなどのシングルサイト触媒との複合化を行った。ハイブリッド材料のナノ構造(形状や粒径)と異種金属との接合状態を精密制御することで、広範囲な可視光応答性のある触媒開発に成功した。
③プラズモン共鳴を利用した新たな触媒反応プロセスの探索:新しいプラズモン材料と触媒活性種を融合することで、その特徴を生かした触媒反応系の創成を目指した。これまで蓄積した知見からプラズモン触媒・シングルサイト触媒が有効に働く、水素キャリア分子(アンモニアボラン、ギ酸)からの水素生成、創薬に重要なクロスカップリング反応、分子内選択水素化反応を検討し、高活性、高選択性を確認した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

①汎用元素を利用した安価なプラズモン材料の開発:前年度までに開発した還元型モリブデン酸化物(HxMoO3-y)を基軸材料として、ヘテロ原子のドープやサイズ・構造の制御を試み、光吸収・利用効率が大きく、光吸収波長域を自在制御した新たなプラズモン材料の開発を行う。
②プラズモン材料と触媒活性種との融合:①において開発したプラズモン材料と触媒活性種(シングルサイト触媒)との複合化を行う。ハイブリッド材料のナノ構造と異種金属との接合状態を精密制御と構造解析を行うことで、広範囲な可視光吸収および赤外応答性のある触媒開発を行う。
③プラズモン共鳴を利用した新たな触媒反応プロセスの探索:②において開発したプラズモン材料と触媒活性種の融合触媒を利用して、その特徴を生かした触媒反応系の創成を目指す。水素キャリア分子(アンモニアボラン、ギ酸、アンモニア、過酸化水素)からの水素生成、二酸化炭素と水素・水からの水素キャリア分子の合成を検討する。
