Outline of Annual Research Achievements

N-フェニルインドールを単体リチウムを用いて還元すると、C-N結合の還元的切断を伴うジリチオ化が進行した。ここに14族求電子剤を作用せると、炭素、ケイ素、ゲルマニウムを挿入できる手法になることを見つけた。多様な元素を活用した斬新なケミカルスペースを生み出す強力な原子挿入反応である。また、その途上で、強固な炭素-酸素結合の切断も偶然発見し、容易に合成可能なシリルエノラートやアルケニルカルバマートから炭素-酸素結合の切断を伴って1ーアルケニルアルカリ金属反応剤が効率よく発生することも明らかにした。いずれも新たなカルボアニオン発生法として世界的な注目を集めている。
一連のカルボアニオンを活用する化学を検討していく中で、トリフェニル酢酸カリウムが炭素ー炭素結合の切断を伴ってトリフェニルメチルアニオンと二酸化炭素を同時供給する反応剤として機能することを見つけた。また、この反応剤がチオフェンをはじめとするヘテロ芳香環の炭素ー水素結合カルボキシ化反応に有用であることを明らかにした。さらに、同位体標識二酸化炭素を原料として、同位体標識トリフェニル酢酸カリウムを創出し、これを用いた同位体標識カルボン酸の簡便合成法を開発し、医農薬関連科学および産業で注目されている。
こうした成果を論文として報告することで、芳香環の還元的破壊に基づく有機合成に関する研究が認められつつあり、また、国内外の学会でいくつか招待講演を行った。
