Outline of Final Research Achievements

To search for light dark matter through spin-dependent interactions, we proposed to attach a superconducting sensor (kinetic inductance detector) directly to a calcium fluoride substrate. The prototype was fabricated in a clean room at RIKEN and demonstrated in a dilution refrigerator at Tohoku University. We experimentally validated the idea. In fact, we succeeded in detecting 5.9 KeV X-rays from a 55Fe source and confirmed that the performance is sufficient for dark matter search. In addition, we have developed a readout technique using RFSoC and a single electron generator for future low-energy calibration.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
