Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project established various analysis methods for predicting and analyzing daily activities and traffic behavior, which are becoming more diversified due to the spread of telecommuting and autonomous vehicles. As a result, it was shown that as a telecommuting spread, commuting traffic varies by day of the week, shopping and eating out decrease, but work and family reunion time increase. It was also shown that 80% of private vehicles will be autonomous vehicles in about 20 years from the start of their spreading, and that household-owned autonomous vehicles will be more popular than autonomous taxis. In addition, it was shown that with the spread of autonomous vehicles, it becomes possible to control traffic flow at intersections through cooperative driving between vehicles, which is more efficient than control using traffic signals.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
多様化が進む社会活動や実用化が進む新たなモビリティ―を背景に,交通量の発生から配分までを単純なモデルで評価し,平日と休日の行動の違いに焦点を当てた従来の交通計画手法は見直しが必要である.本研究では,そのような社会における,社会活動,居住地,交通需要,交通行動を予測する数理モデルを構築した.また,自動運転車の普及予測や交通流を評価するシミュレータを開発し,様々な分析を行った.これらの研究から,多くの学術的意義の高い研究成果が得られた.また,これからの交通計画における交通需要予測法やモビリティの運用方法を提案できたことは社会的意義が高い.
