Outline of Annual Research Achievements

パブリックビューイングなどの公共的な場において,数10 m 以上から遠距離観察できる大画面の裸眼3D表示技術が実現できれば,大きなインパクトを与えられる.本研究では,遠距離観察時に,アーク3D表示の書き換えを,構成要素の円弧状の線刻(従来の画素に相当)の2次元配置と知覚される奥行きを変化できる新提案により達成し,遠距離・大画面3D表示の実現を目指す.
1.3D像を構成する輝点の位置を自由に配置するため,線刻の2次元配置を自由に変化できる方法の確立を目指す.多数の円弧状の線刻を効率的に2次元配置するため,線刻を折り畳んで長方形の領域に収納できる構成を考案し,この方法によりプロジェクタなどを用いて選択照射を容易に行えることを明らかにした.次に,この折り畳む構成により線刻の数が膨大に増加する問題に対し,折り畳んだ線刻の自動作製方法を考案し,装置化することで解決できることを明らかにした.
2.3D像の奥行きに対応する輝点の飛び出し量を変化できる方法の確立を目指す.異なる照明角度を有する複数の照明用表示装置を用いることで,異なる飛び出し量を有する多数の輝点を生成でき,かつ理論値と同様な飛び出し量が得られることを明らかにした.さらに,照明角度と線刻の半径,および観察方法を工夫することにより,3D像の飛び出し量を数メートル程度まで拡大できることを明らかにした.
3.輝点が離散的な奥行き配置でも,連続的な奥行きを知覚させるためのNon-overlapped DFD表示方式の適用方法の確立を目指す.Non-overlapped DFD表示方式において,形状が認識できる程度に輝点数が多い方が,視域を大幅に拡大できることを明らかにした.さらに,面間も,従来のDFD表示に比べて拡大できる見通しを得た.
以上,遠距離・大画面3D表示に向けて,アーク3D像を自由に書き換え可能とできることを明らかにした.
