Outline of Final Research Achievements

Although the changeability of color perception is not often considered because color vision focuses on the properties of the peripheral system, which has a fixed and well-defined structure, plasticity is an important factor in understanding the nature of the human color perception system, which is superior to that of other organisms. For example, there are a surprisingly large number of people in society who can be considered color experts. Their color discrimination and identification abilities seem to be superior to those of ordinary people, and this study showed that their vision itself may be modified by experience. Based mainly on the results of the 100 huetest, which measures individual differences in color vision, we examined the process of proficiency and elaboration in color perception.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
