Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では、森林火災によって生じる固体有機エアロゾル(ターボール:TB)に関して、航空機を用いた森林火災の直接観測や、長距離輸送を経た極域での試料分析をもとに電子顕微鏡分析を行った。その結果、その物理化学特性、光学特性、大気存在量、大気除去過程などを明らかにした。特に、当該年度においてはこれまでの観測データをまとめてTBの生成メカニズム、発生量、光学特性、除去過程などの報告を行った。
(1)TBの生成メカニズムの解明:BBOPキャンペーン試料やFIREX-AQ試料において、発生から3-5時間で、有機エアロゾルの粘性が高くなってTBが生成するメカニズムを明らかにした(Adachi et al., 2024 ACP 投稿中)。
(2)TBの発生量及び光学特性の解明:TBの発生量として、FIREX-AQキャンペーンからおよそ10.1 ± 4.6 ug m-3である推定量を得た(Adachi et al., 2024 ACP投稿中)。また、光学特性の推定として、複屈折率0.06 ± 0.03 から 0.13 ± 0.04の値を推定した(Chakrabarty, Adachi, et al., 2023 Nature Geoscience)。
(3)TBの除去過程解明:TBが成層圏まで運ばれる様子や雲生成過程への寄与など、大気寿命に関わる多くの発見が得られた(Adachi et al., 2024 ACP投稿中)。
