Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research program has been developing from April 2019 to March 2020. In the first step, the land use/cover maps were classified by using Landsat data in 2001, 2007, and 2017. At the same time, fieldwork was carried out to determine the land use/cover type in the mixed land use areas. This outcome can help to understand the spatiotemporal trend and verify the effectiveness of urban planning policy in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Next, a hybrid model combines with the Markov model and Land change modeler was employed to simulate future land use/cover composition under the three scenarios (SS, ESP, and FSL) in 2030 and 2050. The scenario results provide a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages and help with deciding the appropriate urban planning.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
By considering the research plan, this study is in progress. The land use/cover change has been classified and finished the gradient analysis in the Tokyo metropolitan area from 2001 to 2017. In the next year, I can do comparison research based on current results.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Based on the current land use/cover process in the Tokyo metropolitan area, make comparison research and provide future scenarios according to the successful experience of the Tokyo metropolitan area. And the outcomes will be present in the international conferences and submit to the international journals.
