Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
i)We demonstrate the facile, rational synthesis of monodispersedly sized ZnO nanowires from randomly sized seeds by hydrothermal growth. By precisely controlling the sharp tip formation and the nucleation, our method substantially narrows the distribution of ZnO nanowire diameters from σ = 13.5 nm down to σ = 1.3 nm and controls their diameter , even initiating from randomly sized seeds. ii)We artificially synthesis of molecular recognition nanowire surface via ALD technique The ZnO/TiO2 nanowires fabricated with nonanal template exhibited much higher molecule collection ability compared with the ones without template. Furthermore, we found that the ZnO/TiO2 nanowires with nonanal selectively collect nonanal in mixed linear aldehyde molecules with different carbon chain length。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
As stated in the plan , the first year of the research plan, we first started to synthesize metal oxide nanowires with a uniform diameter as a fundamental technology for forming molecular recognition nanowire interfaces.Monodispersely sized ZnO nanowires with a uniform diameter were successfully synthesized from random sized seed by By precisely controlling the sharp tip formation and the nucleation. The results have been published in the prestigious nanomaterials science journal "Nano Letters".Furthermore, we have worked on the construction of molecular recognition surface by atomic layer deposition (ALD) using ZnO nanowires as a substrate material. we have successfully discriminate target molecule among aldehydes with different chain length。

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The next year,First,we will make clear the mechanism of the formation of molecular recognition surface. Second,on the basis of this,we will combine the metal oxide nanowire with sensor to test molecule sensing properties。
