Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2021, we published results received from the 2D resistive MHD simulation conducted to study the role of the driving coils basic properties in maximizing the ion heating during the merging-compression and double-null merging startup methods. Right after, a question regarding the pressure balance during the flux rope formation and merging raised. The results of the 2D Hall MHD simulation showed that the internal toroidal magnetic field balances out the decreasing poloidal field which can be useful at the flux rope formation stage. After conducting multiple numerical studies, it became necessary to improve the quality of the experimental measurements by coupling the externally measured magnetic field values to the MHD simulation to calculate the internal plasma parameters which usually are unknown due to the high temperature of the core plasma. The results of these studies have been published in the various journals.
