Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I wrote "What the Text Omits: Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason and [Girard's] Violence and the Sacred" as a contribution to Giornale di Philosophy. I work on the "transcendental object" or the in the first Critique. I also wrote "Rousseau, Kant, and the Consideration of History" which moves my Girardian interpretation into the writings on history. I also presented on the problem of Hume and Kant in relation to Christian Scriptures. It is being translated into Japanese; will be published next year.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
On the one hand, the Japanese translation is progressing and I hope to publish that within the coming year. But several other publications have still not been published. I have made real progress on my analysis of the "Transcendental Analytic," the most difficult part of the Critique and will begin to put the whole book together. I am still Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and this prevents me from doing as much research as I would like.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For AY 2022 I hope to publish a Japanese translation of my book on Rousseau's influence on Kant. I also hope to complete an English version of my interpretation of the Critique of Pure Reason. I will give one paper in Bogota on reinterpreting Kant's relationship to Christianity on the basis of his "nearness" and "farness" to the victim.

Causes of Carryover |
I plan to attend an international conference and present on Kant in late June. I will be purchasing new scholarly monographs as they appear. I will purchase an iPad for my research.
