Outline of Final Research Achievements |
With the Catholic Reformation that began in the 16th century, the subject of visions became an extremely important subject. The combination of visions and manifestations, which is composed of a manifestation of a holy being and a visionary who sees the manifestation, began in Italy, reached its peak in Spain, was printed in Flanders, and spread to the rest of the world. In addition, ex-voto votive offerings made by the people to churches were basically in the style of visionary paintings. In this study, I published "The Complete History of the Virgin's Art" (Chikuma Shobo), in which I considered various iconographies and art historical meanings of the Virgin, who was the center of vision and manifestation, and "Baroque Art" (Chuokoron Shinsha), which traced the development and meaning of visionary paintings that spread to the colonies and published several articles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
