Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The sacred religious ceremony of the shtetl wedding symbolizes the culture of Ashkenazi Jews, or Yiddish culture. At its core is the rite of passage of "separation" from the bride's family and "acceptance" into the community, as represented by the Kale Bazetsn. In collaboration with cutting-edge Western researchers and performers in this field, we promoted a reevaluation of the spiritual culture of the shtetl, which was rapidly lost after the migration to the New World. Yiddish culture is a linguistic culture in the broad sense, and should be understood comprehensively not only in terms of the words themselves, but also in terms of the body language "gestures" and musical expression. In this research, we were able to share this understanding practically and theoretically through workshops, lectures, and concerts, and contribute to its dissemination.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
