| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Results of a study in collaboration with Adam Smith from the Future University Hakodate, were presented at JSLS2023 (Japanese Society for Language Sciences) in July 2023. A replication was conducted between December 2023 and March 2024, and the data collected are currently being analyzed for a possible presentation during 2024.
Two studies were conducted in 2019 at the National Taiwan University with the collaboration of local researchers. Because of the pandemic, data collection could not be carried out in 2020. Therefore, data were collected online in February 2024 to complement the data from 2019. Preliminary analyses indicate trends that will be reported in a manuscript under preparation to be submitted to an international journal.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Data collection has been delayed because of difficulty in traveling to Taiwan and in running experiments in person. One set has been collected online from native Chinese speakers in Taipei in February 2024. Another set will be collected, also online, from native English speakers during 2024.

Data will be collected online from native English speakers during 2024. This should complete all the data needed for this project and manuscripts are being prepared for submission to international journals.
