Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
A new empirical study using eye tracking was finished on the effects of reading strategies when using a dictionary. Significant results were found suggesting the importance of effective reading strategies. The study was published in the International Journal of Lexicography. It was also presented at the International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching.
Another emprical eye tracking study was carried our on the effects of using machine translation. Significant results were again found. THe study suggested that using machine translation could have a detrimental effect on content and vocabulary recall. It has been submitted to a Q1 journal. The results were also reported at American Association of Applied Linguistics, TESOL, and European Conference of Eye Movements.
