Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Planned research activities for year 3 (2021.4~2022.3) included: (1) Further analysis of data; (2) Presentation of results at (inter-)national conferences; (3) Feedback of results to participants; (4) Development of resource to assist workplaces with cross-cultural communication issues; (5) Preparation of final report on project results. Due to COVID-19, many of the planned activities were unable to be fully completed. Research achievements for the above period are as follows: (1) Analysis of data collected from 10 workplaces continued. (2) Research results were published/presented at conferences. A round-table event was also held at Kansai University in Dec. 2022 at which all members of the research project gave presentations on their recent research. (3)~(5) Due to the COVID-19 situation, completion of the last three objectives has been delayed so an extension of the research period was successfully applied for. Now that the COVID situation has eased somewhat, it is anticipated that the remaining objectives will also be able to be met during the 2023 academic year.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
The continuation of COVID-19 resulted in data not being able to be collected, the cancellation of a planned panel session, and project members being unable to attend conferences. It has also meant that much time was needed to be spent dealing with COVID-19 related issues, so time able to be spent on research was less than anticipated.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As a result of the delays caused by COVID-19, an extension of time for the project was applied for and received. The plans for the remaining year of the project will be as follows: 2023.4~2024.3 - Continued analysis of data; continued publishing/presenting results of the research at conferences; Feedback of results to participants; Development of a resource to assist workplaces with cross-cultural communication issues.

Causes of Carryover |
Due to being unable to travel due to COVID, we were unable to use the remaining amount of the grant. This year, I will be presenting a paper at an international conference to be held in Begium in July and will use most of the remainder of the grant money for that. One of the other members in the group has also indicated she would like to use some of the grant to attend a conference this year as well.
