Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The main focus for the PI during FY2023 was to bring together the large amount of learner audio and video data that had been entered into the Learning Management System (LMS) during FY2022. This involved extensive use of audio transcription and database management. The sudden explosion of possibilities brought about by AI have also entailed many adjustments to the project. The PI will be publishing a paper on this data in 2024, showing how it relates to the viability of the prototype learning system that has been developed over the course of this research project: a system that supports personal development, self-study skills, the integration of English learning with academic subjects and community building, the last of which was the focus of the co-I's research in FY2023. Work was also done by the PI to develop a website using Craft Docs that will make it possible to share substantial amounts of audio, video and image data with colleagues and the public. This site will provide a more accessible means than an academic publication for colleagues and the public to understand the implications of the project for Japanese university curriculum development in particular and ways of thinking more generally about English learning min Japan.

Remarks |
Substantial video, audio and image data is provided here that makes the research more accessible and easier to understand than is possible through a conventional academic paper.
