Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
2021 research was conducted on 100 students on attitudes toward Performance in Education (PIE) in the classroom. In addition, instructors who teach using PIE techniques and activities were invited to share their activities at three conferences on the topic of PIE and creativity. I wrote several articles on PIE topics, academic ones as well as creative writing that resulted in PIE presentations and performances. I organized and edited two books composed of a variety of activities and articles written by different researchers on the topic of PIE and am in the finishing steps of having authors check the final draft of each of the books. Finally, I started a website that contains the result of the three years of research on PIE and creativity and am preparing it to be uploaded at year end.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Because of COVID-19, face-to-face interviews and observations of classes were difficult to do. In addition, teachers felt overwhelmed by Emergency Remote Teaching and were hesitant to add more stress by participating in research. Therefore, research for this project are slightly delayed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Preparations are in progress for a July 29-31 hybrid conference on Performance in Education (PIE) involving workshops, presentations, a student showcase, and a film-making festival and contest. Another conference on PIE is planned in September, as well as a symposium of PIE teachers in February or March of 2023. Observations of classes and interviews with teachers and students will be conducted. For two books, one on PIE activities and one of articles by PIE practioners, my editing is in the final stage, which include articles by myself in each book. Plans for a book on PIE to be published and available worldwide will be completed. Finally, the PIE research website will be completed and uploaded to the Web.
