Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2019, response time data regarding the effects of deliberate learning, and survey data regarding the motivational effects of studying principals of positive psychology were collected, and preliminary results were analyzed.
The Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigator (Co-I) gave individual presentations regarding present findings at highly focused international conferences. The PI presented findings regarding deliberate learning and vocabulary acquisition in Belgium. The Co-I presented findings concerned with positive psychology and educational measurement in Indonesia. They co-presented about positive psychology education at a national conference. Three related journal articles were accepted for publication, and another is now under review in an international journal.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
In 2019, research progress was slightly delayed due to the Co-I's sudden loss of researcher qualifications. Although he was rehired by the same university as a part-time instructor, the loss of research status resulted in uncertainty regarding whether we could proceed with our plans to co-present at international conferences in Canada and the United States. Nevertheless, data collection was conducted as planned. In late July, he was granted researcher status, so we returned to our original plan, and beginning in Auguest 4 presentations were given, and 2 papers were submitted.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Next year,2020, due to the coronavirus, dramatic plan changes are required. The original plan for simultaneous data collection during class time has been cancelled, and data will be collected individually. The Psychology of Language Learning conference scheduled for June 2020 in Nova Scotia, Canada has been postponed to June 2021.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The original plan was to collect data by using a proficiency test. However, it was decided that instead of this method of data collection on 250 learners, more focused response time data collection will be conducted. These funds will be used next year for this new type of individualized data collection.
