Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year, because of COVID-19, traveling to Nova Scotia for PLL4 became impossible. Therefore, instead of using research funds for travel expenses, we conducted a psycholinguistic experiment to supplement current findings with participants and a research assistant in Wellington, New Zealand. Results of this experiment showed that deliberate learning of idioms affects second language acquisition positively.

This year we are conducting another related experiment on deliberate learning. This builds on findings from last year's experiment.

Causes of Carryover |
Since we were not able to travel, dramatic plan changes were required. Instead of using funds for traveling, this project is now mostly using funds to pay experiment participants.
