Outline of Annual Research Achievements

I will summarize the research achievement in three categories.
1. Data collection and analysis: The PI (John Rucynski) and Co-I (Caleb Prichard) continued to analyze data on Japanese university students' ability to detect and respond to humor in online communication. The PI and Co-I continued to contribute unique and innovative new research in the area of humor competency in English language acquisition.
2. Publishing: The PI and Co-I continued to be active in publishing their research. A chapter on our research was accepted for inclusion in an edited volume on English language education in Asia. The PI was also invited to write a three-part series on humor in language education for TESOL International. The TESOL International Association has over 10,000 members globally, so the research findings were widely disseminated.
3. Presenting: The PI and Co-I continued to be active in presenting their research findings. They gave presentations at both domestic (JALT) and international (AAAL, TESOL) academic conferences. The PI and Co-I continue to have a very high level of acceptance at conferences.
