Outline of Final Research Achievements

In previous pottery studies based on the unit of pottery styles, it was difficult to capture the movements and whereabouts of the people who immigrated during the early to middle stages of the Yayoi period. In order to address this issue, this research attempted to reconstruct the transmission trajectory of the unit based on pottery types. As a result, it was possible to identify 4 distinct stages between the so-called "Etsuji SX-1 phase" and the Itaduke I , and 11 stages between the Itaduke IIc and epi-Sugu. Consequently, it became clear that there was a migration from eastern Japan to Kyushu during the early stage, and a fundamental reassessment of the influx periods of Kimhae-style pottery coffins and cast iron artifacts became inevitable during the middle stage.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
