Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study is aims to clarify to determine the impact of local vocational education on youth the school to work transitions and local retention in Toyama and Yamaguchi prefectures. We conducted an interview survey for local government office and pharmaceutical companies, and then conducted a questionnaire survey for the youth.
We pointed the "institutional linkage" has still strong influence on youth the school to work transitions especially whose last education was high school. But the strength of these linkages has regional differences. These differences may be attributed to the strength of cooperation between the company, the community, the local government, and the school. And it is suggested that this has an impact on the local retention of youth. However, we clarified that the emphasis is on grades and not on technology in connecting schools (especially high schools) with companies.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
