Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Although dissemination of the results was delayed by corona, I was still able to get valuable feedback after presenting my results at the WEAI (Melbourne, virtual) as well as the WEAI (Honolulu, virtual) in 2022. Two papers were completed. The first looked at the contribution of inward FDI on Vietnam's radical change in comparative advantage in the electronics sector. That paper is under review at J. Asia-Pacific Business. The second paper looked at the role of comparative advantage on inward FDI for a global set of countries. That second paper has also been submitted and is under review at the International Review of Economics and Finance. We expect positive reviews, and ultimately publication of both papers, this year.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Delays and difficulties in presentation at conferences and getting feedback on our results occurred due to corona. Also, other editorial delays at both international journals have resulted in a lengthening of the review of both papers for more than one year. Hopefully, these delays will be resolved soon this year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I hope to present our results more often at international conferences in 2022. Also, I hope to extend the data set for FDI which currently ends at 2017, to 2021. This will require more data entry and processing on the fDi Markets database I am currently using. This may result in a third paper.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the continuing covid-19 pandemic, I was not able to travel to conferences and other foreign institutions to disseminate the results of my research and gather more data from abroad. As such, I could not use all the funds in the prescribed year. I hope to use the remaining funds to purchase more recent FDI data from fDi Markets (Financial Times) and update my results.
