Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have made significant changes in the theoretical model and also made progress with the numerical simulations. First, we have generalized the model to consider not one famous and one emergent artists, but a proportion of each type of artists such that they add up to one. Second, this approach helped fix the result that the bargaining for the emergent would be more advantageous than for the the famous artist with copyright. We introduced competition among the emergent artists assuming that the probability of obtaining the revenue from concerts is inversely proportional to the number of emerging artists. This makes sense if one thinks that consumers have time constraints to attend to concerts. In the limiting case, the bargaining outcome is the same for both types. Finally, we have done a numerical code to simulate the equilibrium type and the welfare variations for a continuum of parameters.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Because of the ongoing pandemic situation, it took more time than expected to prepare the appropriated materials for the online lectures, so our research time got negatively affected. Also, the difficulty of traveling added up until we got the right equipment to work remote.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Our plan is to double-check our new analytical and numerical results, to re-write the sections in the draft as necessary, and to include new graphs to support our simulations. We intend to circulate the draft to get some feedback and to submit the paper for publication to an Industrial Organization journal by the end of the present year.

Causes of Carryover |
Because of the ongoing pandemic situation, the budget that we had saved for attending to international conferences could not be executed, generating a surplus. Since the international situation is uncertain, we will use the extra money for additional trips Tokyo-Nagoya, so that we can successfully complete the draft for submission by the end of the present year.
