Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1. Better definition of the scope of the problem at hand: at the platform level, the choice of pricing mechanism depends on the trade-off between transaction costs and efficient aggregation of information. Thus, there are conditions such that platforms prefer to set a single price regardless of the quality of the good provided by the heterogeneous suppliers, like cinemas and the ad-supported plans of platforms like Spotify, where the number of ads per minute does not depend on the artists listened. 2. Generalization of the framework to different ratios between famous suppliers and emergent ones, in order to check the robustness of the main results in terms of the equilibrium outcome and the welfare analysis. 3. Coding of the generalized model.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The generalization of the framework was difficult at first because we had to try different specifications, but we found one that worked very nicely and thus we could perform the welfare analysis for a variety of parametric constellations.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The draft needs to be re-written entirely to incorporate the new motivation, the new theoretical results of the generalization and the new simulations from the code.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Since due to the pandemic it is still difficult to travel to conferences from Japan, some of the budget has not been used. Therefore, it will be transferred to the next year in order to cover some conferences (if possible) and the purchase of equipment.
