Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study attempted to present a method for understanding individuals 'awareness of the sustainability of tourist destinations and analyzing the effects of tourism management policies such as entrance fees and admission restrictions in order to ensure the sustainability of tourist destinations in response to recent tourism problems such as overtourism. This study implemented a large-scale questionnaire survey and investigated preference for the sustainability of tourist destinations with reference to the Japanese Sustainable Tourism Guidelines (JSTS-D). As a result, we found that individuals place importance on protecting the natural heritage of tourist destinations and solving the garbage problem. Furthermore, by applying Kuhn Tucker model to the recreation behavior data, this study figured out that individuals put importance on the natural tourist resources, historical and cultural resources, hot springs for their tourism destination.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
