Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project aimed to determine the unique characteristics of worker consciousness in the Japanese working class by analyzing ego-documents. First, as part of document preparation, we digitized the 52-year diary of a labor union leader. We also assessed the oral history of Zensen Domei, the industrial trade union with which the leader was affiliated. As part of this project, we published an academic paper examining the human rights strike at the Omi Kenshi Spinning Company, focusing on the development of the “family wage” concept. Additionally, a book co-authored by multiple individuals titled Creating a Japanese Employment System: 1945~1995 Approached through Oral History was published in 2023, which includes a revised version of the aforementioned paper. This book was presented at a research conference of the Society. In the same year, we received the 38th Okinaga Award (Labor Issues Research Center).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
