Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I approached the historical reality in Imperial Japan’s school ceremonies and school events in archives such as school diaries and historical records through this project. For example, by unraveling the history of the “UNDOUKAI(sports day in Japan’s schools)”, school events have been understood as those that had unique historical scheme. There appeared to have been a big difference in what was expected to boys and to girls in school events under the imperial system. Also, Japan’s rule had brought school cultur in Taiwan and Korea and the system was seen to be continued without any intentions after their liberation in 1945. Thanks to this project, I clarified part of the continuity before and after colonization. Also I could launch the research about Shoka (school songs in ceremonies)in the colonies and the frontiers such as Okinawa in Japan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
