Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to further enhance consumer education in schools, we related science to life, community, and global issues. In addition, we developed and implemented a learning program in which students could realize the usefulness of science learning and which would lead to consumer behavior with scientific thinking. The following issues were taken up as problems in our daily life. Safety education on the use of the electrical products, environmental education on marine debris, and social education on high-level radioactive waste. In addition, we surveyed and analyzed high school and university students on their understanding of SI prefixes, which are indispensable for consumer behavior.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
高度な科学的判断が求められる現代社会では,情報を多方面から収集し,批判的思考力を持って客観的に評価し,責任ある選択と行動が必要である。しかしながら,過去の風評被害など,我々の消費行動は科学的では無かった。他方,中学生の理科学習に対する関心・意欲は低く,約半数の生徒は生活における理科の重要性を見いだせていない。これらの課題を解決するには,消費者教育と理科教育を融合した新たな学習プログラムが必要である。学習指導要領が目指す,児童生徒がよりよい社会の創り手となるために必要な資質・能力を育むためにも,本研究で開発したプログラムは,地域課題を解決するための主体的な学びへの展開が可能である。
