Outline of Final Research Achievements

(1) A study of public high schools in Kyoto City showed that students who developed clearer career prospects were more motivated by the people and books they encountered through "Team-based inquiry" and tended to be more active in team activities. Students whose perception of inquiry activities changed in a positive way tended to become clearer regarding what they wanted to work on while in high school and to evaluate their future positively. (2) A study of high schools in the northern area of Kyoto Prefecture indicated that high school-university-society collaboration, the development of specialized departments and coordinators, and the promotion of extracurricular inquiry activities are also important for the further development of "Team-based inquiry". (3)Researchers and the Kyoto prefectural board of education jointly developed and implemented a common course for prefectural high schools that provides collaborative opportunities for "Team-based inquiry" among different schools.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の社会的および学術的意義は,主に次の3点である。①ひとつは,探究活動(とりわけチーム探究)とキャリア展望の関係を質問紙調査とインタビュー調査などから分析し,キャリア展望を明確にする生徒の特徴や,明確化を促す探究活動(支援環境含む)の特徴などを示したことである。②ふたつは,これまでほぼ皆無であった京都府北部地域などのチーム探究の実態やさらなる発展のために不可欠なコーディネーターの実態なども明らかにした点である。そして,③3つには,これらの研究成果をもとに教育委員会と共同で,学校横断のチーム探究の機会となる府立高校共通履修科目(スマートAP)を開発・実施したことである。
