Outline of Final Research Achievements |
At the stage when Koreans began their Nation-building education in Japan, despite having a vague sense of emotional belonging to their homeland, they had little sense of nation and collective identity. Their identity was awakened through the process of repression and resistance against Nation-building education in Japan. However, as the Korean society in Japan was divided, they began to experience the shaking of identity and "belonging-withdrawal syndrome" toward their kinship and homeland caused by the relationship and interaction with their homeland. After that, they consciously began to strive to establish a "Zainichi identity," but it was an effort to convergence to Japanese society. Along with the change in identity, it was confirmed that Koreans' exclusive characteristics have also been changed into a latent desire to withdraw; suspicion of their kinship and homeland as well as a universal desire to live in harmony.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
アイデンティティは排他的な集団的属性の表れであり、共生を妨げる要素と見られてきた。しかし、今回の研究を通して、アイデンティティは固定した集団的属性ではなく、教育(学習)を通して普遍的価値の共有を目指して変化・発達していることが確認されており、アイデンティティ発達は、相近(convergence)・交互(reciprocity)努力を同伴し、共生能力の形成に繋がるという一般化を導き出すことができた。この一般化は、民族・国民といった集団的属性の強化を図って、反日―嫌韓のような排他的意識・行動を触発する政治的動きに反省を促す理論的根拠の提示にもなると考えられる。
