Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study began as a three-year project in FY 2019, with the task of producing career support materials for university students majoring in their respective languages in Japan and Korea. Based on a questionnaire survey of university students in Japan and Korea and a review of previous studies, we determined that producing video teaching materials would be effective, and we produced video teaching materials.The first year, 2019, went on tour, but the second and third years were extended for two years because the spread of coronary infections made it difficult to conduct the study, We were able to complete the study as originally planned. During this period, four papers were published in academic journals (all peer-reviewed) and six oral presentations were made at academic conferences. In addition, video materials produced by the project were made available on YouTube.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の意義として、外国語を専攻する大学生向けのキャリア支援を正面から取り上げる教材を作成したことが挙げられる。大学の専門教育は、専門的であり学術的であるがゆえに、直接学問内容と関わらない、しかしながら学生にとっては大変重要なキャリア支援について、実践レベルでも研究レベルでも十分に取り上げられてこなかった。
本研究はこの課題に取り組み、誰もが使うことができる映像教材を制作し、YouTube上に無償公開を行ったことは、外国語専攻の学生のキャリア支援に研究レベルで貢献するだけでなく、研究成果を社会に還元するという社会還元の面でも意義があると考える。
