Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to explore how both positive and negative moral emotions are related to moral behavior during childhood. Ethical guilt and moral pride responses increased in late childhood were compared to early childhood, which were positively related to prosocial behavior. The two emotions were less significantly related to temperamental factors. The most significant cultural difference was found in responses for moral pride. Japanese children were less likely than Canadian children to select "happy" and more likely to select "neutral" in moral pride stories.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
